Our Mission:

The Amherst Regional Public Schools Friends of Performing Arts (FPA) is a nonprofit organization of parents, guardians, and community members committed to providing high-quality education in the performing arts at Amherst Regional Public Schools.

We believe that all students should experience the power of the performing arts. In partnership with the ARPS Performing Arts program directors and teachers, our goal is to provide financial and logistical support to, and advocate for, continued investment in our school programs.

We also present the concept that our Performing Arts Program is a unified program that starts in our Elementary School Programs and is truly a K-12 effort throughout the Amherst-Pelham-Leverett-Shutesbury Region.

Additionally, students of different ages and abilities may express an interest in music through a variety of mediums. We are proud to offer smaller, readily accessible units of study in Percussion, Music Theory, Music Composition, Hands-on Theater Production and Special Events. The FPA supports the program as a connected community where students may safely travel from stage to stage.

Parents and Guardians in the Audience!

Our Performing Arts School Events

At the Amherst Regional Public Schools, we believe that the involvement of parents and guardians is crucial to the success of our students, especially in the performing arts. Your support not only boosts your child’s morale but also enriches our entire school community. Here are some key ways you can get involved and make a difference:

Be Part of the Audience

There’s nothing more encouraging for students than seeing familiar faces in the crowd. Attend performances, recitals, and showcases to show your support. Your presence makes these events even more special and memorable for our young performers.

Support the School

Your involvement goes beyond just attending events. Consider volunteering your time or resources to help with various aspects of the performing arts program. From helping to set up and break down stages to fundraising for new equipment, your contribution is invaluable.

Help with Logistics

Running a successful performing arts event involves a lot of behind-the-scenes work. We often need help with tasks such as ticket sales, ushering, and managing concessions. Your logistical support ensures that everything runs smoothly, allowing our students to shine on stage.

Provide Instruments & Equipment

If you have musical instruments or other performance-related equipment that you’re not using, consider donating or lending them to the school. This helps ensure that all students have access to the tools they need to excel in their craft.

Encourage Your Child

Your words and actions at home play a significant role in your child’s enthusiasm for the performing arts. Encourage them to practice, attend rehearsals, and be involved in school events. Celebrate their achievements and remind them that the effort they put into their art is valued and respected.

Thank you for being such an integral part of our performing arts family! We look forward to your continued support and involvement.
